There are many ways you can help the seniors in our community,
Listed below are some great ideas you can do to make a real difference.

Home Repair
: You can support the cost for a major repair project to help a senior stay in his/her own
home safely and comfortably with your generous donation.
Volunteers contribute their labor but seniors pay for the materials that are used.

Transportation:
Between our lift van and volunteer drivers, on average SAS provides 162 different seniors with more than 4,200 rides annually. The cost of keeping our lift van operating has increased tremendously over the past couple ofyears, and we currently have a shortfall of $35,000 just to keep the program at its current level. Your donation helps pay for maintenance and gasoline so that we can continue to help seniors commute safely to their appointments and outings.    Help now>

EBay’s MissionFish:   Buy or sell an item on eBay though it’s subsidiary, MissionFish.   Then you decide what percentage to donate to Senior Adult Services, you can do this if you are a buyer or a seller!

Use Search Engines that Donate Dollars:    Use Freelanthropy  or GoodSearch as your online search engines.  Pick Senior Adult Services as your charity and we will receive a few cents for each of your searches.  You would be surprised to see how the pennies really add up with lots of searches!

Grocery Shopping: This is a great way to help Senior Adult Services.  Next time you shop at Tom Thumb, ask them to link Number 624 to your Reward Card.   Kroger shoppers, show your paper Kroger Share Card (let us know if you need one and we’ll send it to you or download it now) and your Kroger Plus Shoppers Card when you check out.   A percentage of your receipt will come to Senior Adult Services to keep our programs going.

GET INVOLVED:  Perfect for church, civic and other groups or industrious individuals of all ages. Teens needing service hours for school, scout or honor society requirements will find some great opportunities here!

  • Make an individualized basket of gift items for the senior.  You can be part of delivering them too. Over 300 individual gift baskets will be delivered to seniors receiving services from Senior Adult Services.
  • Ensure the Senior Adult Services vans sparkle and dazzle inside and out so that our senior riders travel in style and comfort. Set up a day to wash and clean them!
  • Prepare “de-stress” care packets for senior’s caregivers. Suggested items include:  bubble bath, lotion, humor books, funny movies, relaxation CDs, a gift certificate for an ice cream shop or a quiet restaurant.
  • Hold a used-book party and collect children’s books, cook books, mystery/thrillers, sci-fi, westerns, non-fiction, romance books or any other kind of book to donate to the annual November Bookworm Bash when we sell those books. Then come in November and buy more books!  Collect them now and we’ll store them in our warehouse space.
  • Manage a book drive at your school, business or church.  Collect and sort books and help with the book sale in November. Come volunteer at the book sale too!
  • Spend a day making something special for seniors who receive home delivered meals by creating interesting “objects of art” to add to their tray.  Crafty pre-schoolers to Nursing Home residents and everyone in between are welcome to contribute.
  • Let a lonely senior know you care by arranging some time for a small group to visit a senior at home.
  • Use your creativity.  Think of a new and different opportunity that would enhance the lives of seniors and their caregivers.
